Which wood do we use for our playsets?
At fatmoose, outdoor quality is extremely important to us. That is why we use pressure-treated spruce and pine wood for our playsets.
The wood is of high quality and has grown slowly in natural environments. This results in a stronger and harder structure that can withstand years of climbing, playing, and exploring.
Wood from Central Europe:
Quality and sustainability
The majority of our wood comes from local forests in Central Europe. Due to the slow growth conditions in this region, the wood becomes harder and more durable. Sourcing locally reduces transportation distances and supports responsible forest management, making it a sustainable choice for fatmoose.
The wood has a natural and warm appearance that suits any garden. It is also lightweight, making it easy to handle and work with.

Why do we use child- and environmentally friendly pressure treatment?
To provide extra protection for our wood, it is carefully pressure-treated. This helps extend its lifespan and ensures it remains resistant to outdoor weather conditions.
Our wood is treated using a pressure impregnation process that protects the playset against various weather conditions and significantly increases its durability. This keeps the wood strong and suitable for many years of outdoor play.
Thanks to this treatment, the wood is also low maintenance. Additional staining or painting is not necessary, saving you time, effort, and money.
Due to the natural reaction between the wood, resin, and the treatment agents, slight white to greenish discoloration may occasionally occur. This is completely normal and entirely harmless. Exposure to weather will gradually cause these marks to fade over time. If desired, heavily affected areas can also be lightly sanded by hand.

Natural characteristics of wood
Nothing in nature is identical. Because wood grows naturally, every piece has its own color, texture, and character.

Superficial colouring
Small cracks up to ¼ of the wood length or ¼ of the cross-sectional depth are permitted under DIN 4074 standards. These do not affect the safety or stability of the playset. If you have any concerns about cracks in your fatmoose playset, please send us a photo of the affected area using our contact form. Our team will be happy to assist you.
